- People repeat the exact same ones year after year. I'm counting on at least two to three people telling me they are engaged. I'm in Provo, people think it's funny, and since folks around here rush into the sacred union of marriage after knowing each other half a minute, it's possibly not a joke. Well, they are a joke, but you don't know if the wedding announcement is also a joke, or if it's just them.
- People aren't funny. Last year one of my cohort Moho's posted that he was going to be having a church disciplinary counsel held regarding him and that he thought he was going to be excommunicated. Yeah, a little too raw a subject for the gay Mormon world. What followed was countless comments and emails from fellow gay Mormons expressing concern and support. And come April 2nd, the "gotcha" had the kid black-listed from among us. Not funny.
- There is no food or decorations involved. It's not a holiday to me unless commercialism has nabbed it. When was the last time you've heard of an April Fool's Day sale at your local R.C. Willey? Or a special April Fool's get-together with family and friends? April Fool's Day is not a holiday.

When I was a kid I had a Disney book and it had all these cool activity things in it...one of them was an April Fool's Day menu - you basically made a bunch of delicious food that looked like other things...like cake that looked like a hard boiled egg. That kind of stuff.
