April 2012 Throwsdown May 2011

Today I was inspecting my garden, taking pictures, and comparing where we were at last year at this time. We had a freakishly warm winter and it has translated to a garden that is a month ahead of schedule. Below are pictures of today (April 13) compared with May 2, 2011.  Crazy, huh?
Today: Daffodils are pretty much past prime, tulips are blooming, and the base of the hollyhocks and shasta daisies are pretty well developed.
May 2, 2011: Just some tulips peaking up.

Today: Springtime wonderland! Daffodils and tulips blooming. The peonies  are halfway to the point where they will be blooming.
May 2, 2011: Just a couple of daffodils. Everything else is peeking out of the ground, but it doesn't look too impressive.

Today: The iris bulbs and daylilies are going crazy!
May 2, 2011: Nothing blooming and it looks like everything has just barely grown out.
